Christian Lauersen

Christian is director of Libraries and Citizen Services in Roskilde Municipality. He believe libraries are crucial institutions in every community, public as academic to create and open, more diverse, inclusive and equal world. Christian is founder of Library Planet, a crowdsourced travel guide for libraries and blogs about library development at The Library Lab. He is also a : Music listener, LEGO Aficionado, Ukulele jammer, Football player. Christian is based in Copenhagen.

Karen Latimer

Karen Latimer OBE MA Dip LIS FCLIP hon RSUA

Karen is a graduate of Edinburgh University and spent her early career at Durham University and as a library building consultant at the University of Houston in Texas.  For much of her career she was the subject librarian for architecture and planning at Queen’s University Belfast before taking up the post of Medical Librarian there.  She is a member, and past chair, of both the Standing Committee of the IFLA Library Buildings & Equipment Standing Committee and of the UK Designing Libraries Advisory Board; she is also Secretary of the LIBER European Research Libraries Architecture Group. 

Karen has a strong interest in architectural conservation and is currently a Trustee of the Architectural Heritage Fund, former chair and current committee member of the Hearth Historic Buildings Trust and is the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society’s Publications Editor.

 Karen has published widely on a range of library and conservation topics, frequently speaks at national and international conferences, and has been a lay member of the RIBA and RSUA judging panels as well as the international judge for library building design competitions in Europe and China, and for the Australian Library Design Awards in 2017 and 2019.

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, an honorary member of the Royal Society of Ulster Architects and was awarded an OBE for services to architectural heritage in 2007
